Case summary: Journey Hudson suffered severe brain damage following an incident in which she was found face down in a Howard Johnson hot tub. Plaintiffs claim the incident occurred because the hotel did not properly supervise or maintain the tub's temperature. The defense contend her motherfailed to properly supervise the child and her brain damage was caused by a virus.

Synopsis: In support of the defense claim that Hudson's brain damage was caused by hand, foot, and mouth disease that led to viral encephalitis, Fox introduces the findings and conclusions of defense medical experts. Fox's opening focuses on the conclusions and evidence before introducing the chief defense expert to support the conclusion of Dr. Arthur Partikian, a pediatric neurologist, specifically.

The verdict: Negligence on the part of Howard Johnson's, but no causation and a $0 damage award.
